Slumdog Millionaire – The Novel

Slumdog Millionaire

Slumdog Millionaire aka The Q&A

Well, i bought this book at Singapore, Kinokuniya, as soon as i watched it in the cinema.

I really fell in love with the movie.

However, the ‘happening’ in the book and the movie is somewhat different. But still, it’s about a penniless guy who join an American reality show in India. The guy is named Jamal in the movie but in the book it is Ram.

Well, you guys should check out the book too. The novel is as good as the movie.

The original named is ‘The Q&A” and it is written by Vikas Swarup.

Here is the synopsis of the novel:

“A  former tiffinboy from Mumbai, Ram Mohammad Thomas has just got 12 questions correct on a TV quiz show to win a cool 1 billion rupees. But he is brutally slung in a prison cell on the suspicion of cheating. Because how can a kid from the slumps know who is shakepeare was unless he has been pulling a fast one?

In order of the questions on the show, Ram tells us which amazing adventures in his street-kid life taught him the answers. From orphanages to brothels, gangsters to beggar-masters, and into the homes of Bollywood’s rich and famous, Slumdog Millionaire is brimming with the chaotic comedy, heart-stopping tragedy, and tear-inducing joyfulness of the modern India.”

The Q&A by Vikas Swarup.

Kids from Slumdog Millionaire get new homes and education.

According to ABC, the two child stars from Slumdog Millionaire, Rubina Ali and Ismail, who played small Latika and Salim, will get new home and start school soon.

They said the children were paid above local Indian wages and enrolled in school for the first time. A fund was also set up to pay for their education, medical emergencies and “basic living costs”. Reuters

Eventhough some of the Indian residents do not agree upon bringing up the issue. Due to the success of the film, Slumdog Millionaire, people around the world would take action to overcome these issues.
