Well, i bought this book at Singapore, Kinokuniya, as soon as i watched it in the cinema.
I really fell in love with the movie.
However, the ‘happening’ in the book and the movie is somewhat different. But still, it’s about a penniless guy who join an American reality show in India. The guy is named Jamal in the movie but in the book it is Ram.
Well, you guys should check out the book too. The novel is as good as the movie.
The original named is ‘The Q&A” and it is written by Vikas Swarup.
Check out the author website.
Here is the synopsis of the novel:
“A former tiffinboy from Mumbai, Ram Mohammad Thomas has just got 12 questions correct on a TV quiz show to win a cool 1 billion rupees. But he is brutally slung in a prison cell on the suspicion of cheating. Because how can a kid from the slumps know who is shakepeare was unless he has been pulling a fast one?
In order of the questions on the show, Ram tells us which amazing adventures in his street-kid life taught him the answers. From orphanages to brothels, gangsters to beggar-masters, and into the homes of Bollywood’s rich and famous, Slumdog Millionaire is brimming with the chaotic comedy, heart-stopping tragedy, and tear-inducing joyfulness of the modern India.”
The Q&A by Vikas Swarup.
Notes: Hope you all are well-informed with this.
